We are very pleased to be able to announce our first official radio play on BBC Radio 6 Music. Our song ‘Julian’ which happened to be the first song we wrote together back at Dartington College of Arts, has stuck the right chord with Tom Robinson. He picked it out to be amongst an eclectic mix of up and coming tracks on his BBC Introducing Mixtape show last night.

Tom Robinson is at the forefront of bringing up and coming musical acts to the public’s attention and we really appreciate him and the BBC 6 Music team for picking our track ‘Julian’; a song that is very close to our hearts. On our soundcloud page he simply comments ‘THIS IS GORGEOUS’.  Read what he had to say about us and the other acts that featured on the show here at Fresh On The Net Blog.

Fresh on the Net was broadcast in the early hours of Monday morning, you can listen again via the BBC iPlayer here.

Julian features at approximately 13:00

You can download the podcast here. It’s well worth tuning into this show ever week!

Julian features on our debut album – ‘Residential Bliss’  available to buy from 24.01.15.

Pre- order a digital copy here.

We had a fantastic time playing at this years Glastonbury festival on the Mandala Stage – Green Futures. We played two gigs over Saturday and Sunday and we’d like to thank everyone who came to support us and to the tech men and Mandala staff who were all so helpful. There was an eclectic mix of acts and we were very honored to to be a part of such an iconic festival.

Top Music blogger Tony Hardy came along to have a listen and we are now featured as part of his top 30 Glastonbury Moments of the Consequence Of Sound website  along with major acts such as Jack White and Pixies. He commented “EFG offers quirky, observational songs, illuminated by delicious vocal flourishes”.

A green affair eyes-for-gertrude We’d  also like to thank Lucinda and the Strummerville crew for getting us such great digs and and  to all the staff at the Love Fields camp for making our stay so sublime.

Finally we must say a massive thank you to Alex Scrimgeour, for making this all possible

See you next year Glastonbury. We had a blast.

We had an amazing time playing live on BBC Radio 4’s Loose Ends show on Friday. The BBC crew were great fun and eating prawn sandwiches with Clive Anderson in the pub round the corner afterwards was a bit of a surreal career moment! Guests included Paul Mcgann, Jo Whiley, Scarlet Page and Tony Law with conversation that touched on Canada, Brit Pop, Chekhov and ‘Viking comedy’….

You can now get your hands on a digital copy of our current single, Messing Around on iTunes.

Tom Robinson has already commented on the ‘Tasty production’ on this track brought alive by Ben Mink’s sparkling string arrangements.

If you haven’t already seen the video for the song then visit our youtube channel to take a peek. Directed by Orban Wallace. Before you do though, it’s definitely worth having a look at the teaser video to get a bit of a back story into the predicament of these two characters….

We’d just like say a big CHEERS to everyone who has been involved in the process and made it happen!

We are very pleased to have made the Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition shortlist. Blogger and Judge, Tony Hardy picked Eyes For Gertrude to make his top 3 acts out of 120 entries. Over 6,000 were submitted overall to the judging panel.

Tony writes for the highly popular music website, Consequence of Sound in which he has featured his top 3 list and written some very kind words about us;

“Eyes For Gertrude immediately stood out for how well the duo’s voices complement each other; the first pure, strong Nashville, and the second offering English Rose delicacy. “Rag and Bone” takes soundings from the routines of daily life and reaches determinedly for higher ground, illuminated by delicious vocal flourishes and rousing bluegrass accompaniment. Eyes for Gertrude has a great collection of songs and sufficient quirkiness to work a festival stage fruitfully.”

Take a look at the site to read the full feature.

The top 8 finalists will be announced in the near future.
